About ArkansasFood.net

Launched in December 2007, ArkansasFood.net is a web site devoted to local food and farming.  It is the headquarters for the Foodshed Farm All Arkansas Basket-A-Month program (founded in 2005), Certified Arkansas Farmers Market (2008), Farm to Chef Network (2009) and Argenta Market (2009).

Jody Hardin and Barbara Armstrong, both Arkansas farmers, are the founders and managers of these growing local foods institutions. They operate Foodshed Farm, a part of the historic Hardin Farm in Grady, Arkansas.  Jody is the fifth generation of the Hardin family to farm the land.  His great uncle, Joe C. Hardin, is honored in the Arkansas Agriculture Hall of Fame.  In addition to managing the Basket-A-Month program, Barbara raises grass-fed beefalo in Grady and on her family farm in El Paso, Arkansas. They strive to be a model of ecologically and economically sustainable farming.

The farmers, chefs, volunteers and community partners involved in these initiatives are dedicated to creating robust local markets that work for the small family farmer. They are passionate about connecting people to fresh, healthy, seasonal food and the farmers who grow it. They believe diverse, sustainable family farms and strong local distribution networks are critical to our nation’s food security. They want all Arkansas families to have access to the amazing bounty that is produced around them every day.

ArkansasFood.net brings the pieces of this vision together under one roof. Let it be your guide to experiencing great food and becoming part of the growing local foods movement.
